Question: Do you believe there is a fiscal imbalance between municipalities and the provincial government, and if so, how do you plan to rectify it? What tax reforms do you favour?
A: A fiscal imbalance cannot be verified until we have clearly laid out the roles and responsibilities of each level of government and then discuss the revenue sources and requirements. The real issue is that the provincial and municipal governments have a lack of stable funding which means both levels of government are constantly alternating between spending money for a few years, and then cutting back drastically in the next without a sustainable plan for the future. That is the root of the problem in my opinion.
