06. Support for Family and Community Support Services (FCSS)

FCSS is a successful funding partnership between municipalities and the Government of Alberta, which plays a significant role in supporting preventive social services in our community. Over 90,000 Calgarians were served by 122 programs provided by 79 agencies. FCSS plays a pivotal role in Calgary, contributing to the prevention of social problems such as youth crime, domestic violence and homelessness. The City of Calgary contributes beyond what is required in legislation to support FCSS in Calgary; however, the Government of Alberta's province-wide commitment to this program has been stagnant since 2009.

Question:  Would you support increasing FCSS funding? How and under what timeframe?
