Question: What are your plans for cancer treatment in Calgary?
The PC government’s Budget 2015 commits to proceeding with the construction of state-of-the-art cancer facilities in Calgary.
As noted in announcements subsequent to the budget, the Calgary Cancer Centre will be developed in two phases. Phase one will include the development of a 450,000 square foot facility at the South Health Campus. Phase 2 will be constructed at the Foothills Medical Centre (FMC), with the size of the building being determined in an upcoming facility planning process set for FMC.
The combined sites will provide treatment including radiation therapy, inpatient oncology services and cancer day surgery spaces as well as academic and research capacity.
